The SHINE Conference

Breakout 1

9:30-10:15am

  • We give out food and clothes at various locations to reach people at the point of their need, but our goal is to tell them about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for their salvation. We often pray for people’s relationships and healing as well. We must continue to crossover into the community to reach those who may never come to church! By meeting physical needs, walls are broken down and hearts softened. 5x2 Ministry is named after Jesus’ miracle of multiplying 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed over 5 thousand people!

  • Finishing well starts at the beginning. Step by step God gives you an opportunity to impact others for Christ, no matter where you are, who you are or how old you are. “Today, people are waiting at the other end of your obedience.” (from The Mind of a Missionary)

    Dave & Cindy Lux

  • In Matthew 19:30 Jesus says “But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.” In this session we’ll discuss the meaning of this verse, several ways to get into the race, and why faith is important.

    Jail and Prison Ministry
    Roger Montz
    Chuck Corwin
    Brenda Corwin

  • God is doing a great work in the Gospel-hungry country of Liberia! You’ll be encouraged as you hear highlights about church-planting, leadership development (including a seminary!), an orphanage, a Christian school, self-sustaining agriculture, and more through the team in Liberia and the support structure here in Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

    Brian Bouck
    Sandra Zekeh

  • Are you an overcomer? One of the key scriptures talking about this concept is found in 1 John 2:13-14, 4:4, and 5:4-5. In these passages John talks about how we have overcome the evil one and the world. So what does it mean to be an overcomer as a youth? And as what John calls a father? Join me as we explore how we have the power to be the light of God in the world at any stage of life.

Breakout Sessions

Breakout 2

Noon-1:00pm

  • The body of Christ is God’s answer to community brokenness and a part of His plan of redemption and restoration. Love INC fosters collaboration and organizes holistic care to help churches serve their neighbors through resources and relationships.

Love in the name of Christ (Love INC)
    Glen Keith
    Lucy Kerns

  • When an unplanned pregnancy occurs, it’s important to come alongside young men as well as women to offer parenting education, support, and the gospel (when appropriate) as most Pregnancy Center clients don’t attend church. This session will also provide an overview of Alternatives Pregnancy Center and the services they offer within the Cedar Valley.

  • Explore Christ’s example of finishing well in various contexts. Gain insight from real life stories of finishing well (and sometimes not so well!) and how closing a season has a lasting impact on your own mission.
